Created in collaboration with our parent company, Fujikura, SpiderWeb Ribbon® (SWR®) consists of 12 single fibers intermittently bonded to form a collapsible interwoven ribbon structure designed to allow flexible cable movement in any direction. 
 
This innovative approach allows for highly efficient ribbon termination for mass-fusion splicing with the ability to be broken out into single fibers for individual splicing if desired. SWR® also reduces cable diameter and weight, perfect for deployment in ultra-high fiber count indoor and outdoor applications, resulting in lower installation costs and major improvements in space utilization of cable pathways and ducts.  
 
There are cable constructions that use SWR ® technology from 24 to 6912 fibers. When using high-fiber count cables, finding the right fiber bundle or ribbon to splice is easy. Fibers are bundled with a color-coded wrap, and each ribbon is ring marked. Having to look for the right fiber to connect is a simple and straight-forward process.    
 
In addition to reducing installation time and cost, SWR® also improves network latency on long fiber runs. This is because up to twice the amount of cable can be wound on to a drum in comparison to single fiber cables of the same fiber density. Longer runs means fewer connection points.
